There are many reasons why both investors and companies that are trying to raise capital and are seeking the help of a private investment fund

For many companies that are trying to raise capital they will seek the help of a private investment fund so that they are able to raise more money quickly. There are many different reasons why individual and institutional investors put their money with a private investment fund. A private investment fund can come in many different dynamics and sizes.

For many companies that are looking to raise capital they will offer these opportunities to a private investment fund. They do this because they know it is much easier for the private investment fund to go find investors then it is for the company to do all of this work. They also know that a private investment fund has access to a great deal of money and qualified and accredited investors. Usually the company that is trying to raise the money will pay the private investment fund a placement or finders fee for all of the money and investors that they bring into the deal.

For many individual investors they will put their money in a private investment fund so that they can get the opportunity to be a part of investments that they normally would not have any exposure too. For many investors they do not have enough money or connections to get many of these private investment opportunities presented to them, so when they put their money in a private investment fund they are able to get into these deals. Also many of these private investors will take advantage of the resources of a private investment fund. A private investment fund can afford to do all of the research, due diligence and legal work necessary to make these private investments, when most investors cannot afford to do all of the work.

Lots of times an investor will put their money in a large private investment fund so that they can get into a deal that is closed to the general public. Many of these companies will give a private investment fund or multiple private investment funds the exclusive rights to place clients in their deal. So many of these investors that want to be a part of a particular private investment they will join the private investment fund that has the exclusive on that deal.
